Note: Intent is to not force folks to have to buy new backpack or other gear specifically for this campout. Please contact myself or others in the troop for potential of borrowing gear, if needed.

FSMS Departure Instructions
- Need to arrive at 5pm (earlier than standard time). Need time for prep and longer drive
- Plan to depart around 5:30pm. Please call if running behind.
- Need time for inspection of personal gear
- Need to determine tent assignments and distribute tents
- Need to distribute remaining group gear/equipment and food
- Need to ensure extra room in back/bag for all distributed gear
- Need to repack bags at FSMS (prior to departure) to include all distributed gear.
- Need to ensure scouts are ready to go upon arrival at campsite, since it will be late at night (don't want to have to do all this distributing of group gear and repacking of bags in parking lot at Dinosaur Valley SP)
Campsite Arrival/Departure Instructions
- Campsite ~1/2 mi from paring lot. Will arrive late at night
- Will distribute group gear (tents, food, etc) across crews. Must allow sufficient space in bag.
- Single pass in and out (to campsite) carrying all personal gear, group gear, food, etc.
- Need to Pack Light!
Cooking Plans
- All menus should be planned for trail hiking or backpacking
- All menus should not require any refrigeration or ice
- All menus should be planned for smaller group (~3 people) vs traditional patrol size
- Any meals requiring cooking should use backpacking stove (vs propane stove)
- Will give priority of cooking to folks working on Cooking MB, Tenderfoot thru 1st Class cooking requirements, Backpacking MB, than other. All scouts will get exposure to trail/backpack cooking

- WATER: Bring TWO 1L bottles (already filled). Nalgenes are best. No disposable bottles.
- SHOES: Bring 2nd set of camp shoes/sandals (close toed) that is suitable for river crossing (ankle deep)
- MESS KITS: Your mess kit will also be used for cooking and not just for eating.
- Pack SMART. Pack LIGHT. Eliminate unnecessary items
